A: When working with any LMR cable we recommend the spring-finger (EZ) connectors. The EZ pin eliminates many variables such as pin-core gap, potential melting of the foam dielectric, cold solder joints, excess solder and flux residue. The EZ also offers an advantage with applications involving extreme cold and/or vibration. When a long run of cable is subjected to extreme cold, the center conductor may contract slightly due to its thermal coefficient. The EZ pin design will allow for slight movement of the center conductor without any impact on VSWR. Also, problems that can wreak havoc in a high-vibration application, such as brittle eutectics, cold solder joints and improper solder volume, are eliminated with the EZ design.
